I am Princess Sherlene D. Stevens (pronounced Shur-leen Stee-vens), formerly known as Sherlene Stevens-Gould (divorce, 2007). As a member of a multiracial ancestry, both of my parental sets are originally from the Deep South: My maternal family has lived on Maryland's Eastern Shore for over 120 years. My paternal family ventured to Maryland from the Deep South, and has lived mostly in an urban area of Maryland for over 70 years. I didn't know my true ethnicity until the year of 2020: after the births of my four children's reflection of multiracial identity (1998, 2001), and the local court proceedings involving the death of my actual custodial father.

A Typical, Normal Large Family So I Thought . . .
1971 Sherlene was born in the major city of Kent County, but lived in northern Queen Anne's County, Maryland. Her mother was only 15 at the time. Since such dysfunction, she was "adopted" by two devoted people (a stranger-male identity in her life, and eventually her biological grandmother) with the same multi-racial ethnicity--thankfully.
1978 As a gifted-and-talented elementary student, she began participating with 4-H Youth Development. Sherlene's spirit has always been of helping children and the elderly within her local community--fulfilling learning goals/objectives "as if" she was in a more urban environment while realizing that she lived in a very rural and southern disadvantaged area of Maryland: A child (G&T student in a disadvantaged area that lacked other educational outlets) who still needed to be educated.
1984 She began babysitting mostly white children (in-home, mother's helper, and at her Johnsontown/ Pomona, Maryland home while her mother was present). During her early years, Sherlene was also home-schooled by her young mother who was a community worker.
1985 High School studies, Business: Office Technology and Education (College Prep). She participates in the school's choir, and committee for class social events. She tutors youth-of-color in Chestertown, Maryland: math, reading, and the arts, including outdoor physical education.
1987 Sherlene was a long-time member (age 7 - 15) of Chestertown Reach Outs 4-H Club located in Kent County (Chestertown), Maryland. She discusses plans, with the Town of Chestertown, in regard to a youth-center setting at the old location of the Super Fresh grocery-store building. The building now houses a local Dollar General. Next, Sherlene forms a 4-H Club 'Young Developers 4-H Club.' (The kids of the group selected the club's name choice.) While working with the youth, she developed Maryland's "first" summer-school enrichment program for the entire state. She developed the curriculum (the lesson plans, etc.) with resources provided by local independent retail businesses, Parks and Recreation government organization, and the local elementary and middle school in the city of Chestertown. Snacks were donated by the parents of the children. The club meetings were held at the local library of Chestertown, and at Wilmer's Park in downtown Chestertown.
1989 Sherlene graduates Queen Anne's County High School (Office Technology and Education). She receives a full college scholarship by the 4-H Youth Development program of Kent County--all the while realizing that she was a long-standing citizen of Queen Anne's County. Also, at the time, she passes a state exam, the State of Maryland's clerical exam. After graduating high school, Sherlene made a decision to work for government on a full-time basis, and attend college at a nearby community college (Chesapeake College). Sherlene was hired by Maryland government as a full-time administrative assistant for the front-end/main office of District-2 State Highway Administration (Chestertown, MD; State-roads government, including tracking state and local weather for traveling citizens and staff).
1992 Sherlene takes a leave of absence from State Highway to decide whether to further her college experience, or to continue working at the particular government agency. She wanted to explore a career as an educator at the local public-school system of Kent County.
Meaness, Racial Hatred, and Cultural Dysfunction
1992 College matriculation agreement. Sherlene transfers from Chesapeake College to Delaware State College (now University), Dover, Delaware. She majors in a specialty dual-major education program: Business Management, Communications, and Education - Grade 5 -12 gifted & talented track. The college-major program is not offered anywhere else within a 200 mile radius. She continues to work while attending college as a substitute teacher, and several other local part-time jobs.
1993 She would work as a substitute teacher for the local-schooling district for one year before being hired on a full-time basis (assumed pending teacher-degree college outcome). Sherlene is hired full-time as a teacher's aide first, then an instructional assistant for an alternative classroom approach for at-risk and disadvantaged middle-schoolers. She is completing as many courses as was available at Delaware State College.
1994 - 1996 Sherlene was promoted and worked now, full-time, as an "Instructional Assistant Alternative Classroom" at the local middle school. Her work experiences included creating a modern-approach alternative education classroom model to both increase desire and discipline of learning in a traditional-classroom environment. Sherlene was given her own classroom to be used for the program. In 1994, her first child was born, a girl. In June 1996, she was close to completing her bachelor's degree. She temporarily resigned from her full-time position to complete requested "day hours" of the Teacher Education program at Delaware State University. (The question, did she have to resign to complete her teacher's college program?) During this time, she began home-schooling her first daughter (early education). All the while, Sherlene was still under the said local-school or county employment contract.
1997 Sherlene, the college student, now works, part-time, at the local hospital in Chestertown; front-end main switchboard (CBX) operator. Sherlene's one-year salary contract is ignored by the local school system, oddly, as though some type of action to avoid her having substantial income or money.
1998 Sherlene (and other students of the dual major) was told that the major would no longer be honored due to the renovation phase at the college (Delaware State College's transition in becoming a university vs. continuance as a state college ... due to the NCATE (teaching reform) policies). She was given the option of changing her major, or transferring to a different college. She experience staff harassment in demanding that she change her major from the non-existing major. (Sherlene was not able to adhere to the college's own rules of allowing an active student to graduate under a major program.) Sherlene drives, her newly purchased vehicle, 3/4 times a week from the family home in Queen Anne's County jurisdiction to Dover, Delaware on average 3/4 times a week. Her second daughter is born.
2000 Sherlene announces her pre-divorce actions and request to the community of Kent County after recently discovering that her then-husband wanted no parts of her work ethic and activities. However, both she and her husband decided that she would continue home-schooling "their own" children (two girls, early education)--just leave the education stuff alone of teaching other people's children was his hope. Also, it was agreed between the two of them that their daughters, their girls, would attend a local public-school's summer-enrichment program (actually her founding program) to be around the local public-school children-neighbors, yearly.
2001 Sherlene remains married, however. She began taking courses again at Chesapeake College to become a child care director (funding provided by a local government agency based on the town's need for a child-care center module after the original model closed abruptly). Her goal was to open a day care/learning center in the Chestertown-community area. She takes liberal arts courses, and completes a 90-clock hour certification in Early Childhood Education. She os employed part-time at Queen Anne
s County Board of Education as a home hospital teacher, and a substitute teacher (two part-time jobs). Her third child is born, a son.
2002 Her fourth child is born, a daughter. Sherlene has four children now--3 girls and 1 boy--who are participating in the home-schooling model experience, mostly using the Montessori teaching style.
2003 Sherlene tries again. She discusses a second leadership plan with the Town of Chestertown in regard to using the old building of the Family Support Center in the Business Park (Emory Hill) complex. All constituents approves the location site (without offering an financial donations), and thought it was a wonderful idea--except for the town's citizens and leaders. Kent County Schools approves a portion of the site for usage as (A Time To Learn) as a formal and legal learning center. However, her husband chose to move Sherlene and their children out of Kent County, abruptly, due to a new job opportunity and his personal point-of-view of her career pursuit. The family moves to Centreville, MD. Due to the effects of Storm Isabel, Sherlene and their kids move to Hartly, Delaware. This move has lasted only a short time. Several ministries were formed while a member of Aaron Chapel United Methodist Church, Rock Hall, MD. Sherlene is now a lay speaker of the United Methodist Church, Easton, MD (Eastern Peninsula), 2002-2003. She completes the Parents and Families Education Information training (Maryland government and national training), Spring 2003.
2004 Due to her husband's latest job opportunity, she and her family resides in Greensboro, MD. There is local cultural conflicts and disputes: this is the final year of her kids' home-schooling reviews and participation. Reviews were completed by the local Board of Education in Caroline County, MD.
2005 - 2006 Sherlene experiences a forced-and-arranged separation from her husband and children(!). In an attempt to regain the legal right for her children to live with her on a full-time basis, she attends Sojourner Douglass College, for a short time, with a goal of completing her bachelor's degree, and required courses needed for Delaware State University teacher credential review. Sherlene and husband divorce.
2007 - 2008 Sherlene and her ex-husband begin co-parenting their four biological children; children not separated while growing up was Sherlene's hope and mission. Sherlene was homeless by the state's actions, for a short time, due to said mishaps. Sherlene finally graduates from Wilmington University (not under teaching track, however, a degree in General Studies with a Business Administration emphasis). After completing all required college courses, she moves to Wilmington, Delaware with hopes of a new life and full-time job opportunity to have adequate means to care for her children if they desired to live with her. AND THEN the "economic recession" occurred, including major lay-offs of teachers, and closures of most staffing agencies in the New Castle County, Delaware area.

2007 Sherlene moved to Wilmington, Delaware under a promise and opportunity of affordable housing (Section 8): Should she receive a welfare HUD housing voucher for a 1-bedroom? 3-bedroom? 4-bedroom? disputes by government staffers begin. Their children begin to visit at her adequate-and- consistent dwelling via Section 8 or public welfare of Delaware (not Maryland).
2009 Sherlene created her business using any and all of her personal experiences to generate consistent income to be more self-sufficient--like in the past before the job dysfunctions with Kent County, Maryland's schooling system. In October 2009, she launched Its An Event And Company. The company's web site was introduced under several website names. It's now written in stone:) sherleneonline.com (and sherlenestevens.com). Now living in Delaware, she has returned to substituting with intentions on working as a full-time teacher (emergency certification qualified per Dept. of Education). She also received a formal Delaware Early Education teaching certificate.
2011 Sherlene lives in Newark, Delaware. She has opened a mini private school in Delaware for a short time (a home-schooling model). She begins course work in a master's degree program at Jones International University, online.
2012 Her memoir releases (June 5) "The Script in My Box: A Journal of Forgiveness." It is a straight-talk mystery novel for young adults, and families. It discusses family life and dysfunctional life experiences or challenges that can be avoided. Sherlene completes her master's degree, and online college experience. She also recently completed a formal janitorial franchise certification from Stratus Building Solutions, including lawn care property management services: hospitality emphasis.
2013 Sherlene now lives in the District of Columbia (D.C.). She has always had an interest in politics (government agency administration), too.
2015 An opportunity has come available to move to Georgia (!). Sherlene now lives in Union City, Georgia. A rural area just like she has known all her life while living on Maryland's Eastern Shore. She commutes, consistently, from Georgia to Maryland to help her ailing and aging grandmother and grandfather. All the while waiting for her children to move down South with her on a full-time basis.
2016 Sherlene's grandmother who had raised her dies. Instead of relocating to a larger Georgia dwelling for her kids and she, she makes the decision and plans to move back home to Maryland to help with the care of her father via adoption, her now step-grandfather.
2017 Sherlene returns back home thinking that she would remain living in the family home in Queen Anne's County as her commute from Georgia, but due to family feelings she now lives in Annapolis, Maryland. She chose Annapolis to be closer to maternal and paternal family, but she didn't get to choose her exact dwelling. It was decided for her by government staffers of Maryland. Living in Annapolis, also, allowed her to resume co-living housing arrangements, her joint-custodial rights involving her four children. No job opportunities, she begins volunteering (on 8/26) as a local weather communication director when applicable; Redevelops the disaster-relief project platform available to her audience family (website, social media, etc.).
End-of-Year, 2017. Rebranding effort of company name from Its An Event and Company to The Sherlene Brand (the original company vision intent).
2018 Digital Online Media Executive available 24/7 Portal Platform and Web Page Owner (Family-lifestyle interest platform). I'm now available from 10 a.m. Monday - Saturday, and Sundays closed.
2019 Launched formal family-appropriate news feed on this platform, Sherlene NEWS (Sherlene News Media and Broadcasting). A Time To Learn Academy, non-profit, offers a formal employment and career-counseling services. Sherlene's father via adoption dies.
2020 Sherlene returns to living in the family home, full-time, in the Queen Anne's County jurisdiction on Maryland's Eastern Shore. She brings with her The Sherlene Brand her established independent service-based business, and public-charity non-profit A Time To Learn Academy.
In November, Sherlene launched Marigold Staffing Services. It is a part of her overall concierge company.
*In summary, I have a master's degree with an emphasis of business leadership and communications. She is an entrepreneur. Also, she is an educator. As an informal health-care worker, she still help others who ask or are in need based on her Christian and scientific beliefs.
