Things to Know

  • Several homes have burned down to the ground, over 33,000 acres.
  • Wildfires are happening now on the west coast: California.

  • Place a white or colorful sheet outside of a nearby window of your location, if unable to evacuate your unique homestyle.
  • Keep lawns trimmed, leaves raked, and the roof and rain gutters free from debris such as dead limbs and leaves.
  • Stack firewood at least 30 ft away from your unique homestyle.
  • Landscape your property with fire-resistant plants, shrubs, and hardwood trees.
  • Place spark arresters on top of chimneys. 
  • Remove branches hanging above and around chimney.
  • Maintain adequate moisture on shrubs nearest your unique homestyle.
  • Place valuables in a pool or pond if necessary.
  • Turn off propane-tank valves.

 


Happening Now

 

October 8/9 - Beginning of family evacuations in north California. Over 1500 homes, including an entire neighborhood, have been destroyed by the recent fire storm.

October 10 - Some Los Angeles, California communities are now experiencing similar wildfires.

 

October 16 - 700 wildfire-victims are now living in shelters.

 

October 24 - There are more than 4,000 firefighters in the disaster areas of California.
